Whats "the period" for emailing out?

I have a website that was offline for a number of years. I've hired a VPS and put it back online. My forum is dead and so i used the mass email facility to email all the members letting them know it's back online. Windows Sendmail requires a smtp host to use - so I configured it to a smtp account I have here which i have used years ago for testing my smtp server's inbound connection handling (yes you read that right, i used to flood myself with mail to make sure the thing could handle it and process GUI updates).

It failed to send. This is the message I found in the (windows) sendmail log:

23/08/22 09:29:23 : Too many rcpts in time period from this IP<EOL>

Yes, it's my fault, I shouldn't have used a tool that phpbb offers..

I've since tried again using outlook to send through Mercury32 which is also installed on the server and I get the same message.

How long will this last?

Thanks.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

I don't know whether this is still relevant, but at least it gives an idea of what Plusnet were once aiming for -
