Unable to send emails

Server not responding - is anything adrift at Plusnet

Our monitoring platform doesn't suggest anything's awry and not heard of any other reports this morning. Can you telnet to the server? From a command prompt:

telnet relay.plus.net 25

It might be handy to know the recipient and sender email addresses to do some validation on them then.
For obvious reasons, can you PM them.

PM sent and for other users they are both to Plusnet email addresses the second being a test to my account
Now off to try webmail
This may be my computer as my wife's XP machine works fine - away to try a reboot

Also be handy to know whether or not you're using SMTP auth?

I am not but it is now fixed - computer reboot fixed it
It may have been something to do with waking from sleep mode

Spoke too soon, one of our outbound mail servers looks to be playing up. Looking into it now ...

I'm getting similar problems I get this message from Thunderbird
Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server relay.plus.net was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again or contact your network administrator.

How are things now? I'm looking to close the service status but our monitoring system's still flagging a few issues so would rather not do this prematurely.

Other than one authentication issue, which I get occasionally and a retry fixed it, no problems but then again the reboot fixed it for me so I don't know what effect that had as the other computer worked fine

plus.com email addresses can send & receive.
F9 email addresses can receive but not send.
Even a reply to a plus.com email cannot be sent from F9 (relay.force9.net)

I'm getting repeated timeouts trying to send mail from my mail.free-online account.  Two messages sitting in my outbox wont go. 
Haven't received anything recently either, although clicking receive doesn't generate a timeout message - could be nothing to receive.

I've posted a service status. Seems to be a recurrence of the issue from this morning. It's died down now though so would be interested to hear if you're still having problems?
