Unable to download email

Service is usually excellent. Today, whilst I can send email, I cannot send email.
What is wrong, PlusNet?

Edit: Outlook is now downloading 7 messages - S L O W L Y !!! It's taken 3 minutes to download a 37kb message and it's telling me I have another 15 minutes to go.
This is not good enough.
