Thunderbird 68.11.0 can no longer send using Insecure pw option

port 25

relay.plus.net

password insecure * no longer works have to use "no authentication" now to send emails

Didn't know about that, @Gus , but you should be using port 587 anyway - and that appears to get round the problem because I haven't seen that warning.

Sods law it works again, thinking I might have trigger the failed login as I had capslock on during 3 attempts.  Now to find the error log file

Fix

@jab1 is correct, port 587 should be used by an email submission client.  Port 25 is for MX to MX message relay.

Also if using encryption, port 587 should use STARTTLS.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

@Gus not sure whether you're aware, but you can also use encrypted connections to receive email now.

For POP3 use SSL/TLS on port 995

For IMAP use SSL/TLS on port 993

good to know I was going off the setup guides for thunderbird on the community section, out dated some what
