Re: The name XXXXXX is already in use or is a reserved name. message when trying to redirect mail

I set up a redirect many years ago and found it not that clear what do.

If I recall correctly I had to delete the account and then setup a redirect under the >Manage My Mail >Redirect tab, to the redirect email address.

When looking in >Manage My Mail  >Mail boxes there is no entry for the redirect that is found under >Manage My Mail >Summary

If you have emails on the plusnet server I would suggest using POP to download any emails you have.

NB I am referring to a <mailboxname>@<accountname>@plusnet.com  address (if that makes sense)

For a test go to >Manage My Mail >Redirect and create a redirect for loggy to your chosen email address, wait a while to see if it works, it did for me.

@Dan_the_Van is spot-on - a name cannot be a mailbox and a redirect.  It can only be one of...

  • A mailbox
  • An alias (another name for a mailbox)
  • A redirect
