Squirrelmail fails to load every time I open it & is v v slow

Hi
SquirrelMail now fails every time I open it with the following error message: ERROR:
[ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: EXPUNGE
]I then have to click 'inbox' & eventually the emails load. Please can anyone advise about how to solve this. I also have a lot of emails in my inbox but can't move them as the app always falls over & generates error messages.
It's almost unuseable now.
Would appreciate some help with this problem.I have had my account for several years without changing any settings.

Welcome to the Forum PadyDog
Its a long time since I used Squirrel, But it has a finite limit on the number of e-mails that can be stored on the remote server, and the more you have the slower it gets.
And it used to be virtually impossible to delete them if you have to many, require staff help
