Some emails not getting to a particular inbox

One a booking confirmation for a holiday with an established tour company, which in absence of email I chased and got a resend to my gmail account. The other from a relative's UK hotmail account, where there has been no previous trouble.Neither has got in to a junk folder anywhere.
Any ideas why they might have gone missing? Please!
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Do you know if your relatives account got a bounce-back/undeliverable notification when sending to you? Do you have any other devices that may have downloaded this email from the server?
