Setting up to receive Gmail

I use Fossamail as my email client and also am attempting to follow Matt Wheeler's article, so I can read messages sent to my Gmail account there. I am having difficulty..

I think I am reading right, that the settings are as from his article

You'll need to give a few more details when you're setting up your email application. They can be pretty confusing, so here's what to use.

	IMAP	POP
Incoming server	imap.plus.net	mail.plus.net
Incoming port	143	110
Outgoing server	relay.plus.net	relay.plus.net
Outgoing port	587 (recommended) or 25	587 (recommended) or 25
SSL/TLS	No	No
SMTP Authentication (only needed if you're sending emails from a non-Plusnet Internet connection)*	Yes	Yes

* This is only available if you've got an active Plusnet broadband account

A shot of my attempted settings is attached. The password has been entered several times, and as to SMPT authentication, there is no sign of the optiion being available.

What am I missing? Please help!

If your using gmail you need to use IMAP settings for gmail not plusnet at the moment it's not working because your trying to verify your gmail account with plusnet which won't work as plusnet don't run gmail.

As @geek26 says you need to use Gmail's settings which you can find here.

A word of caution, Gmail doesn't play nicely with email clients so there may be some other tweaks required.
