Setting up an email account

Hi Guys.

How do set up an email account, can't seem to find any info on it?

Thanks in advance.

I've just joined and my email is...

Your email address postmaster@<Deleted>.plus.com

Re: Setting up an email account

@billiam As from very recently - sorry I can't remember the exact date - Plusnet no longer offer email to new customers, but I suppose they have to have some means of contacting you, so that will be a one-way address to allow them to send notifications to you.

Unless you get hold of an account with some other email provider, the only other option is to use something like Yahoo/Gmail.

Re: Setting up an email account

@Gel Yes, another option. I would have suggested the MS option if the OP didn't like my original suggestions.

Re: Setting up an email account

@Gel What are you going to connect the Outlook program to ?  It's only a front end user application.

Re: Setting up an email account

I’m not sure how this works now but if Plusnet have advised @billiam that they have been allocated an email address of postmaster@xxxx.plus.com then presumably there is an email account.

Re: Setting up an email account

@Baldrick1 I'm a bit confused too, but I seem to remember a staffer (Gandalf?) confirming that new users from a date late last month would not have an email account, so I still think this is a 'one-way' communication option for account/billing notifications.

Re: Setting up an email account

@jab1 Maybe. On the other hand we don’t know when the OP signed up.

I don’t know at present, but assumed that Plusnet would have asked a new customer to provide an email address when they sign up and used that for billing.

No doubt it will be clarified in the near future.

Re: Setting up an email account

@billiam

Looking In Manage Account  >Manage My Email

postmaster@<myaccountname>.plus.com is "Aliased" to <myaccountname>@<myaccountname>.plus.com. So any email addressed postmaster@ go to the Alias address, typically my account monthly statement emails

What I cannot recall if I set that up or if it was automatic, I have never specifically used the postmaster email address

There are mail help pages in the members centre https://www.plus.net/help/email-guides/ which might hold the answer.

HTH

Dan.

Re: Setting up an email account

Mine was set up automatically. I get bills both on this and my registered third party email address.

Re: Setting up an email account

@billiam microsoft office 2010, though a bit old, will be fine to send / receive emails - just as soon as your account is sorted.
