Sent emails and junk disappear

When I send an email it arrives at its destination but I don't get a copy in my Sent folder. Also, if I transfer an email to Junk, it disappears into the ether like the Sent mail. This is a great problem as I need copies of Sent mail for legal purposes.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

There are various different ways one can send emails.  You will need to explain how you send your emails in order to get help with your problem.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

I go into my Apple Mail, New Message, write it and send it.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Have a look at this. I suspect you need to change the namespace prefix to 'INBOX'.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Do you mean in the Advanced Mail Settings? The Imap prefix box is empty.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Yes, try putting 'INBOX' in there (minus quotes) and see if it helps.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

No, unfortunately. I sent an email to myself and it arrived but not to the Sent folder.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Are you using IMAP?
If you log into Webmail, can you see the email in the Sent folder there?

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Yes, using IMAP. No, it isn't in the webmail Sent box either.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Apple Mail is definitely not filing it in the correct place then.
Our IMAP hierarchy is as such that all 'special' folders are sub-folders of the Inbox, e.g.
Inbox
Inbox.Sent
Inbox.Spam
Inbox.Drafts, etc.
You need some way of telling Mail to copy Sent/Spammed emails to the relevant folders (if indeed it's even possible with the version you're using). Unfortunately, I don't have access to an OSX install at the moment so I can't play around with things and see if I can get it working.

Re: Sent emails and junk disappear

Have you mapped the SENT / DELETED / DRAFTS folders to those on the server rather than local client based ones?
I do not any experience with Apple Mail, but I am mindful that on iPads and iPhones that if you do not specifically map the above folders to the IMAP server, then sent items seem to disappear.
Also on those devices, email configurations can seem to get 'stuck' changes do not seem to be applied, they only solution being to trash the email account settings on the device and recreate it / them.
