Plusnet's smtp server is down
I'm getting a no response message from the server as reported from MSoutlook

If that were the case there would be far more posts on here than just yours. Have you double checked all the settings as it's almost certain the problem is at your end? Have you recently changed anything on your PC (e.g. updated installed anti-virus software)?

Well, I sent some emails successfully yesterday at 21:21hrs to which I got a reply. - so it was working then.
Half an hour later when I tried to send a reply, MSOutlook reported the no response message from the server each time I tried.
Following writing my comment above I switched the PC to standby overnight with MS outlook still running (router on 24/7)
This morning I switched it back on from standby and sent some emails and MSoutlook connects to the outgoing server without any problem.......
So I'm none the wiser as to why it was getting a nil response, but no, I don't think it was a problem at my end.
