Does the outgoing SMTP mail server relay.plus.net support any ports other than 25?
Sadly I appear to be trying to connect via a hotels's ISP that is blocking port 25!

Unfortunately not. If the hotel's ISP blocks port 25 you will have to use their SMTP mail relay, or use webmail. Alternatively if you have a gmail account that could be used to send emails (different port).

At the risk of trying to teach my grandmother etc .....
.... you are certain that the block is at the hotel's ISP end, are you?
As they probably don't use Plusnet (shame on them!!), even if they don't block port 25, you will need to turn on Authentication in your outgoing server details, otherwise it will be blocked at the Plusnet end.
I only ask because you didn't specifically mention that you had Authentication turned on & it won't be by default.

Just to add: authentication is not required when connected to a Plusnet connection, so the settings that work at home may not work via another ISP

Thanks for all the replies. Interesting tip about Gmail - especially as my google search lead me to some other email provider!
