Still getting a problem on the webmail - Inbox is telling me it failed to send FETCH command. And still unable to see emails. Tried a much smaller folder, and can see those, but not the main inbox

@Tigger Your problem is a different one, which is currently under investigation - i.e. known to Plusnet, but there is no resolution date for it yet.

OK, thanks. Hadn't looked at webmail for ages. I can now see that the inbox needs re-organising, and slimming down, but there's probably not a lot I can do about that until I can see it!

Silly question, @Tigger - but how do you usually check your email?

OK - makes sense. In that case, what is Outlook told to do when you have downloaded the mail - delete from server/keep for 'x' days, or what? And are you using IMAP or POP?

I use POP, and emails are left on the server until #I delete in Outlook. Unfortunately, if I put them in a folder in Outlook, they end up getting left on the server, and I have to do a periodic clearout. It's about time I did it, but it appears I can't!
What is the problem with webmail?

Not the way I would recommend to do it, to be honest - if you download only to the one machine, as I do, I would suggest it is a better idea to set that to delete from server after say, 7 days, and that way you don't risk going over the 1GB limit on server space, and it saves you having to do any clearing.

It was true for 3 of my devices - error with SSL turned off, no error with SSL turned on.

a POP server ... doesn't check the security settings of individual clients.
But the POP3 server will have separate listeners for SSL connections on port 995 and non-SSL on 110, so it's quite plausible that SSL will work and non-SSL won't. And vice-versa.
And it seemed possible to me that PlusNet had decided to only accept SSL (which wouldn't be a bad idea anyway!)

@gandb1 I'll take your word for the SSL/non-SSL situation, and accept the separate listener argument as well, although port 25 should really be 587.
They obviously haven't mandated SSL-only, either, as I haven't bothered swapping - yet, but still receive my emails.

It certainly appeared to me, that whereas 995 along with SSL worked, 110 with no security was failing. However, there's a chance that was a timing issue and just coincidental !
