Possible malware sent via WhatsApp.

Recently, on about 6 occasions I have received emails claiming that a friend has sent me a picture via WhatsApp.
I do not recognise any of the originators' email addresses so I have not opened any of the attachments.
My Internet security programme (BullGuard) picked up one of the emails before I had deleted it and detected malware embedded in the attachment.
I have deleted all the emails from Windoews Live Mail and Plusnet Webmail.
Has anyone else experienced malware attachments being sent through WhatsApp?

I have just found a website: alertafrica.com. An interesting article which explains that these emails are nothing to do with WhatsApp although they claim to be from that reputable programme.
I guess I've answered my own question but I would still be interested to hear from any of the PN community who have also had these scam emails.

Yup - had loads.
Also had them in a very similar format claiming to be from various mobile phone providers containing a picture that someone has sent.
I do monitor around 20 email accounts at the moment though, both for myself and for another company I do some work for.

SWMBO has about half a dozen, and a similar number of phantom Amazon orders.
It's a boom time of year for spammers, scammers and malware merchants.
