POP error

I can access webmail but my mail client says:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'xxxxx', Server: 'mail.plus.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Re: POP error

You are not alone @stuck, my mail system is also fubar, and I'm guessing there will be more reports soon.

Re: POP error

Yep. Same here. No POP server. Could someone pick this up please?

Socket Error: 10060, Port: 110, Protocol: POP.A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Re: POP error

Think this is only affecting some of the Avasin connections, I've just received mail to one of my accounts, but another one is still reporting the same error.

Re: POP error

This same problem happened about three weeks ago as well. Bob Pullen picked it up. It was a fault with one of the two pathways into the POP server. They are essentially load balancers and it's pot-luck which one you connect to when you POP into the system. If it's the bad one there is an error, if it's the other one, not! Looks like it's returned.

Message 15...

The host name for Plusnet POP3 collection (mail.plus.net) resolves to two IP addresses 212.159.8.81 and 212.159.9.81, each of which routes to a separate location. Seems there are issues with the latter, but not the former.

The intermittent nature of the problem will be because you sometimes hit the 'broken IP', and sometimes the working one.

Re: POP error

@bobpullen - although we haven't been notified, I'm guessing this is now fixed?

Re: POP error

HI,

Yeah, pop3 should be performing much better now?   Does it seem ok?
