POP access via mail.plus.net : Socket operation timed out

been getting this today (all morning) when trying to get email via Linux KMail. Not changed any settings in a long time.

Other info
ping mail.plus.net
PING mail.plus.net (81.8.159.212) 56(84) bytes of data.
Can access via Webmail.

Ideas? known issue?

Looking at your account shows that you've had similar issues in the past. I've tried logging into your default mail box from here which seems to work just fine.
Could you try telnetting into the mail server as per the details on ticket  41546640 please?
