Firstly a big thank you to all you guys on here as without you I don't think I would have worked things out.
Probably my main issue was that the login to the Greenby portal / webmail is username@username.f9.co.uk when we never used this, just our individual emails such as joe@username.f9.co.uk...
Anyway now I'm in I thought I should post my settings in case they are helpful for anyone else:
Incoming Mail:
Username = email address e.g. joe@username.f9.co.uk
Password = your password as before
Server = mail.force9.net
Port = 995
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) should be ticked
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) should not be ticked
Outgoing Mail:
Server = relay.force9.net
Port = 587
Encryption Method = None
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) should not be ticked
My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication should be ticked
From the options below choose Use Same Settings as my incoming mail server
Hope this is useful for someone.

Two distinct logins
- The Greenby user portal - that is the account name or DEFAULT email address
- Webmail login - that is the email address
There is some room for confusion with these logins…
- The Plusnet portal accepts CONTACT email address for the login (as well as the account-name)
- Greenby appears to have morphed Force9 to f9 in various areas as the preferred domain name
- There are hints that Plusnet’s current default mailbox address has been “enforced” during the migration giving rise account@account.f9.co.uk with an alias of the existing default mailbox name
There are outstanding question the latter point.
@dave can clarification please be sought from Greenby on identity morphing?
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

@Townman Please can you clarify whaat you mean by default email address and mailbox?
On Plusnet...
- I had a clearly marked default mailbox (the first one ever created). Is that what is also referred to as the 'primary' mailbox?
- I was not aware of a default email address, though there is an email address shown in Account Details - mine is postmaster@<account>.f9.co.uk.
On Greenby...
- No mailbox is marked as default.
- I do not have an alias for <account>@<account>.f9.co.uk.
- I do not have a mailbox with a name of <account>.
- On the 'Team' page I am listed as the sole user, with an email address of <account>@<account>.f9.co.uk (which I see is editable, though I have not tried to change it).
- An email sent to <account>@<account>.f9.co.uk ends up in my catch-all mailbox ... which is not the one PN marked as default.
So what are my default email address and mailbox?
[PS Not sure why your post was relevant to Outlook and POP3!]

The POP3 server has SSL/TLS enabled to correctly secure the credentials and email content.
So why is STARTTLS encryption not enabled for the SMTP server ?
This means the mobile and/or laptop will expose your credentials every time an email is sent.

@PhilipHeyes So why is STARTTLS encryption not enabled for the SMTP server ?
What makes you think it is not? I have been using StartTLS on relay.force9.net both before and after migration.

Look at the proposed Outgoing Mail settings :
Outgoing Mail:
Server = relay.force9.net
Port = 587
Encryption Method = None
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) should not be ticked
My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication should be ticked
From the options below choose Use Same Settings as my incoming mail server
Hope this is useful for someone.

@PhilipHeyes Look at the proposed Outgoing Mail settings :
Yes, I saw that ... but I am looking at what I am using here without problems! And it includes StartTLS.
