Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

I have now had some luck.... in my case with email in the format aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk...

If I change my login to aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk (replace force9 with f9) this seems to do the trick with my mail client - not sure if this is just temporary.  I used imap.force9.net and relay.force9.net.

I can also login with just 'bbb' on greenby.com and I see my relative has 23 days left to pay... from there I can also view all the mailboxes including aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk and 'view webmail'.

But if aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk is what you have used as your email address, then fiddling things to use aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk is just not an acceptable solution.

It might be a viable short term mitigation so long as that does not change the SENDING address or RECEIVING address and can be so configured on your email client.

There are various email clients out there for which the email address and the userID are in separable.

It is difficult to endorse this as a working solution.  On some limited testing which I have done, this does not work for a secondary mailbox - logging on with aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk where aaa is a secondary mailbox fails with a temporary authentication error.

This issue is now raised.

In pop3 and greenby.com, f9 works, force9 doesn't. Let me know if I've missed anything.

To other issues regarding mail, I'm still looking.

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

on Greenby.com can you log in with your normal username alone (ensuring you select Force9 or Free-Online) from the drop down?

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

With my relative's email in the format aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk

What works to login to greenby.com (with Provider = Force9 in the dropdown) is just:

Username = bbb

What did not work for login to greenby.com is any of the following Username / email addresses:

bbb+aaa

aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk

aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk

With an email client I can login with aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk (not aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk) however, the login username is now the email address aaa@bbb.f9.co.uk rather than previously with force9 where it was bbb+aaa.  So a different set up was required to make it work.  But having done that, my relative is happy and has paid the £15.  Appreciate others may have a different view.

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

I’m afraid none of the above has helped me login to Greenby.

Still the same position as last week in that I can login via Plusnet basic webmail or thunderbird but no new mail showing since middle of last week.

Plusnet have been trying to find out why but have failed and told me to go back to Greenby (where I can’t log in) and who told me to contact Plusnet because until I’m migrated , which I have no idea when that will be (as I can’t see any emails) they can’t help.

Needle to say I think this is unacceptable but I’m glad I spent Sunday after speaking to phone support who told me this could take weeks , migrating all my banking , pension, credit card contacts to another mail address.

This is being handled very badly indeed

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

@eaglejazz

In respect of a mailbox aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk if you want to login to the Greenby portal you administer the ACCOUNT then you login as either…

  • bbb@bbb.force9.co.uk
  • bbb

Selecting Force9 as the provider.

You’d only login using aaa@bbb.force9.co.uk when accessing email via the webmail client.

It won't take weeks. I'd advise you don't call Plusnet support on this issue, and stick to the forums. I have your details and I'm still investigating for you. We know email is there and we know my test email arrived, so no email is lost, we just need to see what you can't log in.

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

@simoncullen

I have just finished running tests which I have sent to @plusnettony

Are you using a SECONDARY forec9 email address?  If yes, then, as an interim mitigation...

  1. Use account+mailbox as the userID credentials
  2. Access your email using Greenby's own webmail client - see https://webmail.enmail.co/

I have a suspicion that the front end proxy has in some cases working out where migrated SECONDRY mailboxes are.

This is not gospel (a statement of fact) but rather empirical observation.  Neither is this a suggestion of a permeant fix, but very much an interim work around whilst the cause is identified and remedied.

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

Thank you for reacting out Townman

Im afraid I have no idea if this is a secondary mail address

This will probably be an issue with a lot of Force9 mail users in that they are probably older like myself and have limited IT skills .

I have tried what you said via the link but it is not letting me login with any of what you mentioned or what I could think of I have also tried the above on greenby.

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

@simoncullen

The default email address is account@account.force9.co.uk for which using the email address as the userID is OK

A secondary address is foobar@account.force9.co.uk for which the email address will not work as the userID - try account+foobar

Use the Greenby webmail client to access email - remember to select the right provider from the drop-down box.

Re: Not receiving emails to Force9 Email

Hello Tony,  you've asked for a PM to be sent to you, with username and email address how do I do that? (I've seen the entry in Help that says I need to post before I get the option to PM...)

FYI I was migrated on 13th November and haven't had any email delivered to Outlook since.  A ticket has been opened with Greenby but they haven't fixed the issue and seem to be going round in circles.

I can access my email via Greenby webmail (but it's pants as it doesn't remember 'Allowed' addresses)

Hello Tony,  you've asked for a PM to be sent to you, with username and email address how do I do that?

Click on Tony's name ( in pink ) on one of his posts, that opens his profile page . On the right hand side of the page you will see a 'Send private message' link, click that and it will allow you to compose a message
