New account, can't send email

I've just initiated a move from BT to Plusnet with the migration takin place next month. In the meantime I have set up email addresses and all works fine to receive. However, I keep getting an error message when it tries to send using the Plusnet server.
Would this be due to the migration of account not being completed or a wrong setting?
Appreciate any advice. Ps I have tried both imap and pop, with and without passwords with the same issue.

Yes, you won't be able to send through the PlusNet server until your account is active.
