Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

Bob, One last question (one last hope!! ) what did you set the frequency of download emails to (eg manually, every 15 mins etc) and what coverage did you set (anytime, last 3 months etc).

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

I left the settings at what they defaulted to when the account was created. The coverage is 3 months; as it's an IMAP account, there is no option for polling frequency.

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

I'm not a MAAF customer but I'd expect the underlying advice given to apply. You would need to use appropriate MAAF values in place of Plusnet values for

Incoming email server:
Email address:
Username:
Password:
Outgoing server:

If you don't know the server names you should be able to find them in the MAAF support pages..

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

Thank you for your reply.  Anyone out there who is also still using a madasafish webmail account?

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

For Madasafish:

Incoming email server: mail.madasafish.com
Email address: <your-madasafish-email-address>
Username: <your-madasafish-email-address>
Password: <your-madasafish-password>
Outgoing server: smtp.madasafish.com

Hope that helps.

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

Thank you.  Madasafish email now appears to be working ok.

Could you please help me with adding email settings for my domain name?  Looking at information given to me many years ago and used on my existing laptop I am using the following details under 'servers':-

outgoing : mail.domainname.co.uk

incoming : smtp.domainname.co.uk

log on using clear text etc

my server requires authentication

I'm not sure where I am going wrong as both outgoing and incoming mail are being rejected.

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

The outgoing and incoming server addresses look to be the wrong way round to me. Who is the domain registered/hosted with? If it isn't Madasafish/Plusnet, then I'm not going to me of much use helping you with the settings I'm afraid Undecided

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

Thanks for your reply.  Definitely registered with Madasafish - have been using it successfully  for years.  If I go to Madasafish webmail I can pick up domain name stuff there - and when I send and receive on old laptop I get madasafish and domain mail all into the same inbox (unless I set up rules to get it diverted to different file). I just want to be able to send mail using my domain name - not to bothered about picking it up since that seems to happen anway - Sorry not explaining this very well but hope you will understand what I mean.

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

..........and you are quite right - I typed them the opposite way around from how I have entered them!  I would have thought that if I copy the same settings from my existing laptop it should work but am confused by the servers tag which is slightly different from my XP one.  Log on using clear text/secure password'authenticated POP, and my server requires authentication are where I am struggling.

If that's the case, just replace the username/email address with your domain name, e.g:

Incoming email server: mail.madasafish.com
Email address: <your-domain-email-address>
Username: <your-domain-email-address>
Password: <your-madasafish-password>
Outgoing server: smtp.madasafish.com

Clear text. My server requires authentication should be ticked and use the same login credentials as inbound. To be honest, I'd recommend using IMAP over POP3.

Re: New Windows 10 eMail App Settings

Thank you very much. Unable to make another attempt at the moment - it will have to wait until after the weekend.  But will update once I have tried again. If I used imap would I be able to store the emails on the laptop rather than online?
