Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Champnet no, I have had no delivery failure email.

I have been sure almost from the outset that the problem is at the recipient end at least for the unrecognised handshake. PN is also at fault for sending so many copies. It's not easy to see what email service the recipient is using as its a private hosted domain website.

FWIW, I sent a test email and it appears to have arrived once.

@Mardler  If you’ve not received any delivery delayed messages then it looks like Plusnet’s system has sent the message correctly.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Champnet I guess it's possible that PN only sent the email once and that's what I am trying to ascertain.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Mardler  As your subsequent test message seems to have gone through OK this problem may hopefully just be a one off.

@Champnet , apologies, "twore" should be "two more".

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

Two more yesterday - are they copies of the original message or the later test message ?

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

Further information.

The email contained an embedded jpeg but it isn't being sent to the recipient. My guess is that his email service is dropping it rather than PN not sending it.

More importantly I have confirmation that the support team is now looking at the problem.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

The email contained an embedded jpeg but it isn't being sent to the recipient.

Its very possible, due to the size, that the recipients mail client is timing out accessing their mail server. It's partially downloading the mail, but it is still on their server. Probably nothing to do with the sending from Plusnet.

@MisterW thanks: that's pretty much what I said to my friend an hour ago.

@Mardler depending on which email client they are using, they MAY be able to change any timeout value.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

After all this time still no answer from PN support.

The latest message, which looks like a c&p from a useless technical support team, completely missed the point.

FWIW, my adressee friend blocked my PN address. He reinstated it a few days ago and no duplicates since.

It seems very poor that PN's techies can't check my emails to see if duplicates of one email were being sent.

As discussed above I have been firmly of the opinion that the fault lies with the recipient's service however he's a smart guy and will need convincing with evidence that the fault is not at my end. Unfortunately, I will have to tell him that PN is technically incapable.
