Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Champnet agreed though the poor fellow has 15 or more copies which I would have thought would be more than enough to trigger an error email to me.

I will keep y'all posted.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Mardler I don't know what the fault was attributed to- I never asked, because I assumed that it was merely an electronic 'blip' - as described earlier, this can happen if the sending station does not receive a correct acknowledgement.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

Have just heard from the recipient that he has had 4 more copies.

Time for a complaint.

@Mardler I don't think a 'complaint' will get you very far - it may be a fault at the recipients end - or somewhere in-between.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@jab1 I'm not sure.

I suspect the error is with PN. If I could see my Sent items in webmail I could try deleting the offending email but there's no such folder there apart from an old one.

This is becoming increasingly annoying so a complaint seems the only way. Trouble is I can't even find a way to raise a ticket.

PN: anyone listening?

@Mardler Why do you suspect PN?

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@jab1 because I very much doubt that the recipient's service is doing it.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

My monies on the receiving email system not returning the correct response.

Even if you could delete the offending email that wouldn’t solve the problem….

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Champnet agreed, your second point also makes sense.

I have raised it with the "support team" and will phone PN tomorrow if no response.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

You could politely ask the support team to kill the email as it’s stuck between the two MTAs but I’m not sure of the legal implications, good luck…..

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Champnet  that's exactly what I plan to do.

I will also ask if someone could tell me exactly what the PN system is expecting in the recipient's service received response and what it's actually sending. At least then I can advise the other party.

@Mardler the SMTP specification for mail transfer is here https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5321.html

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Multiple qcopies of same email sent

@Mardler  Have you received any emails from the sending system saying it’s unable to deliver the email but will keep on trying ?

If not Ii’s possible the problem might be between receiving system and the end users email client.
