More errors

Trying to pick up emails tonight via Mail on my Mac and they're timing out.
Tried webmail and got the "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server" message.

Re: More errors

Looks like webmail is broken again unless they've started this early.

Re: More errors

VERY early if it's that! Looks like email in general has fallen over again.

Re: More errors

Neither POP3 or webmail is working for me this morning. POP3 (Windows Live Mail) gives:
Unable to send or receive messages for the********* account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.
Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR Temporary problem, please try again later
Server: 'mail.plus.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Webmail gives "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server."

POP3 is connecting now but I don't seem to be receiving any messages. Still getting the webmail error.

Re: More errors

Morning guys,
Looks like our engineers were called out late last night due to a problem with one of the storage devices (ref: 66358). Should be OK now though.

Re: More errors

Just had twin problems:
BT outage / unreliability:  Exchange EABDF  22/23 March
No Emails received back half of 22/3 and up until 16:00 today.
Recent test mails are being sent / received / replied to  but missing mails sent from work yesterday?    Is there a backlog queue somewhere?

Re: More errors

well are we going to get a response from plusnet on this serious issue?
it was quite clear that this was a serious problem and why then did they respond by logging on to my email account?
i'd like to know how they did that, do they have access to my password? if so how is that kept safely?

Re: More errors

I think I've missed something! You're saying PN logged into your account but don't mention anything about it earlier. Have you raised a ticket then and been told they logged in?
I started this thread 'cos I was getting timed out downloading mail, then got the usual error message when I tried logging into webmail and wondered if anyone else was affected. Then it righted itself. Seems there was a similar issue this morning which also righted itself.
Bob Pullen explained what happened last night and there was scheduled work earlier this morning.

sorry i'd already posted a duplicate thread and in that plusnet person said that they'd logged onto my email which apparently do as standard
which i am personally uncomfortable with, especially after having allowed all our email accounts to be hacked once...
also it's clear that emails were lost overnight and i would like to know where they have gone...

[perhaps the mods could merge the 2 posts? ]
