Mime format

This is a continuation of a locked topic query which was never resolved.
I get some emails that report:
This is a message in Mime Format.  If you see this, your mail reader does not support this format.
Since I'm now using webmail most of the time I find it inconvenient having to download these to OE in order to read them. I've tried forwarding within webmail as I suggested I would in the previous topic but that doesn't work neither does looking at them via Squirrelmail.
Is there any way of reading them through webmail?

Re: Mime format

Update - I've tried "Forward as attachment" at which point the email is converted to a .eml file - which can then be opened and is readable.
However it appears to have been corrupted in the process - check out the spurious examples of "=" on the attached screenshot - and clicking on the url doesn't work (Page not found - Sorry, the page you requested was not found - Please check the page address and try again.) which suggests it's corrupted too.

Re: Mime format

This one is usually caused by either something missing or incorrectly formatted in the email header. Post up the headers, removing or obscuring any personal info, for people to take a look at it or alternately send a pm.
That's RPM to you!!

Re: Mime format

Yes but with respect that's irrelevant to my question which is how can I view these via webmail - and if I can't why not? If Outlook Express can handle these without a problem why can't an up--to-date webmail platform?

Re: Mime format

A leading question,  do you have the following option enabled?
Personal Settings -> Displaying Messages  ->  Display HTML

Re: Mime format

Does the mailing list give you the option to receive messages in plain text rather than rich text/HTML?

Re: Mime format

Ah, just as I expected. Email header is missing the important MIME-Version tag in it.
I had a similar issue from another email newsletter awhile back. Thankfully after conversing with their web guy I managed to get it all fixed up.
So my advise to you would be to contact the email provider and tell them to make sure they have "MIME-Version: 1.0" in their email header. This tag is a requirement for all HTML messages.
That's RPM to you!!

Re: Mime format

@kmilburn + @Jaggies - thanks but the settings are already on HTML display - only the Auto Trader ones weren't displaying - all others are OK - hopefully the sender can resolve.

Re: Mime format

My point was if they can't sort out the MIME Version issue, if you have the option to receive the emails from the list in plain text instead of Rich Text/HTML you won't have this problem. Your own display settings are irrelevant.

OK - so you mean if I have the option to receive the emails from Auto Trader in plain text format? Is that what you mean by "the list"? However it's not a forum. I'm registered with Auto Trader and they periodically (several times a month) send out survey invitations. It's those I'm having trouble with since I can't reach the survey because currently Plusnet webmail is corrupting (i.e. not showing properly) the URL link. There only appears to be an "unsubscribe" link in their emails, not a "settings" link which might give me the option.

Re: Mime format

As the article that I linked to says, it is often because the sender is not doing something appropriately. It is Auto Trader that need to change, not you!
