Messages sent using Outlook Express not appearing in IMAP Sent folder

Subject line says it all, really. When I send a test message using Webmail, it syncs OK and appears in the IMAP Sent folder of my OE account. But when I send using OE, the message appears in the Local Sent Items folder but not in the IMAP Sent folder.
What am I doing wrong?
Appreciate any help.

I think this is probably how it works. My experience is with Outlook but that was the same. What I did was to set up a message rule to move messages arriving in the Sent local folder to the IMAP equivalent.
I think Thunderbird does that too, but it's automatic.

Having only recently moving from OE to Thunderbird, I find TB highly configurable in comparison.
Copies of 'Sent Messages' can be directed to a location of your choosing for each mailing account just by delving into the configuration for each account. E.g. they can be located in individual 'Sent' folders or you might choose to bundle them all in the same folder, or a combination of those choices (i.e. some individually and some bundled).

Ah, good to know it isn't just me
I can't find a way in OE to set a rule for the Sent folder -- Rules all seem to be applied to incoming mail...?
I'm about to abandon OE, in any case, so I'll move Sent messages manually for the time being and try to ensure my new client handles things better.
Thanks for your help!
Chris

[quote=http://support.tigertech.net/express-imap]5. Set the IMAP folders
Click the IMAP tab, then:
Enter INBOX for the "Root folder path".
Check the box marked "Check for new messages in all folders".
To make Outlook Express save drafts and copies of sent messages on the IMAP server, set the following options. (If you don't, drafts and sent messages will be stored on your local hard disk, and won't be visible from Webmail or other programs.)
Check the box marked "Store all special folders on IMAP server".
Enter Sent for the "Sent Items Path".
Enter Drafts for the "Drafts path".
The words INBOX, Sent, and Drafts are case-sensitive. Be sure that "INBOX" is entirely uppercase, and that "Sent" and "Drafts" starts with a capital letter followed by lowercase letters.
