domain name host has today told me that the emails are being received by them but the forwarding address is being reported as a blackhole and therefore deleted from my domain name providers servers and therefore never reaching me.
sounds like 'bovine excrement' to me. The whole idea of a black hole is that the sender doesn't know it's a black hole ,the receiver just silently discards it!
Is your domain host forwarding using SRS ( sender rewriting system ) ? If not , then any SPF checks by the receiver will fail and the message MAY get rejected
