Lost Mail!

I raised a ticket on the 3 October about a sharp fall in my e-mails and asking if there was a problem preventing mail from being delivered to my INBOX.
And failed to recive a satisfactory answer.
Within the last hour I have received 518 mails in my INBOX and 680 in my JUNK folder.
They were sent to me from the 29 July onwards!
Why were they not delivered when sent?
And why have they all of a sudden been delivered today?
One of these mails was from the daughter of a great guy who died in August.
I did not receive her e-mail until this evening two months after his funeral!
And only replied an hour ago.
Has anybody else had similar problems?
AND HOW CAN ONE KNOW IF MAIL IS NOT BEING DELIVERED?
Am I alone in having this problem?

Just to clarify, were you receiving any emails to this mailbox on this computer?  Do you have more than one email client (e.g. a smart phone or another computer) accessing this same mailbox?  Are you using POP3 or IMAP?
The problem you describe would typically be related to the email client's connectivity to the email server, however in sch circumstances, you would be unlikely to have received any mail.  Selective non-delivery by the back end systems would be most strange unless there were specific issues with your email configuration... which might have been fixed by attending to your ticket.

Re: Lost Mail!

Hi
It would probably be worth posting the full headers of one of the delayed emails, with the email addresses removed.  That way we should be able to see exactly were the message was delayed.  If you don't know how to do that if you post what email client you are using (and probably the version), I'm sure someone will be able to tell you.
Thanks
Phil

Re: Lost Mail!

I am really alarmed by this.
Order if books I publish not received, old friends dying, etc
But am not too hot technically.
I use Apple MAIL on a MacBook and very occasionally while abroad, Webmail.
I have a Touch Kindle but its impossible to access Webmail successfully with that.
I have meither Smart Phone or Tablet.
Not sure wht you mean by forwarding headers but is this what you need:-

This poor guy translated some mails into Polish for me and sent them off.
I have neither received his mails, or replies to them or even acknowledged his assistance.
And now needf to disentangle the mess & apologise all round

@forsterbalcke, In the old webmail at: https://webmail.plus.net/squirrelmail/ what I use, what you need to do is open the email as normal go to the top of the email and click on:
View Full Header
and  you will see something like this:

@forsterbalcke
In Mac Mail, to show header details for a single message:
Select the message, and then choose View > Message > All Headers.
Copy/Paste in to a reply, then go through the contents blanking out actual email addresses.
