People may recall there was an issue last year with gmail delaying emails from *.plus.com addresses. That issue was fixed, but obviously related there was a delay reading emails within gmail, when you set forwarding from plus.com accounts.
It appears that when the issue was fixed gmail had some sort of delay in operation when it was a plus.com account.
Resetting email and password in the gmail "Check email from other accounts" dialog seems to have fixed the delay for me
