IMAP server closing connection

Hi all, this keeps happening:

Microsoft Office Outlook, Your IMAP server closed the connection. This can occur if you leave the connection idle for too long.

Courier-IMAP server shut down by signal.

                Protocol:              IMAP

                Server: imap.plus.net

                Port:      143

                Error Code:         0x800CCCDD

Any advice welcome as it's happening all too frequently now & is driving me to distraction. TIA

Try googling 'imap server closed connection outlook' there's lots of possible solutions depending on your outlook version

The key piece of advice is to lengthen the server timeout period - 10 minutes is I think excessive, usually (if that's the problem) 2 or 3 minutes in place of the standard 60 seconds is usually helpful ... thought if there is a real problem it might lengthen the time it takes to get the real error report.
