Html email messages appear as plain text

It appears that email messages composed using HTML will only display as plain text when viewed on Samsung galaxy and Amazon Fire tablet stock email apps. They display properly Windows 10 laptop using Windows Live Mail. I cannot find any setting change that will fix this on the tablet devices. Do I need to find a better email app?

Sorry, should have been more clear. The messages have been sent from various different sources, I don't kknow the application used. They begin with <!DOCTYPE HTML>

What version Amazon Fire tablet? I've one knocking about at the office somewhere that I could dig out. I asume the emails are being sent to a Plusnet mailbox?

Hi Bob, thanks for taking an interest.

Amazon Fire HD 10 2nd Generation. Same is seen on Samsung Tab A 9.6 running Android Nougat (I think, but don't have it with me to check).

All emails are sent to Plusnet mailboxes (including additional mailbox set up for my account)
