How to retrieve emails downloaded - now .mbox files?

Hi

My mail box was nearing capacity so I followed advice and Downloaded some old emails ( from Webmail) and saved them On my PC. The seem to be in a zipped file called  INBOX.mbox

Now I want to retrieve an emails with important information but how do I open this file? Windows just says it can’t open the file.

Any suggestions gratefully received!
many thanks

Re: How to retrieve emails downloaded - now .mbox files?

Hi - yes I have already tried that but they all involve downloading conversion software ( how can you tell if this is safe?) or very long convoluted procedures. I rather hoped that as Plusnet had recommended downloading the email in this way there might be an easy way to retrieve them?

can any one help?

thanks

Most email clients should be able to import mbox, it’s a standard file format.
