I have an HP touchpad tablet device which I had setup to download my mail from the PlusNet IMAP server.
After a visit to the USA, the downloading of mail has now stopped working and I have tried in vain to set it up to work again.
I am currently using the following settings:
e-mail address: <me>@<my username>.plus.com
password: <my password>
incoming mail serer: imap.plus.net
username: <my username>
password: <my password>
encryption: none
port: 143
outgoing mail server: relay.plus.net
username: <my username>
password: <my password>
port: 25
I get no mail, although webmail shows mail in my inbox. No errors reported - just nothing
I've got the same settings on my HTC desire smartphone and that works fine.
Why do I have the problem on the HP tablet?

Interestingly I can send e-mails from the touchpad, but not download them.
I've deleted the account and re-set it up a number of times, but still no joy.

and when I chnage the incoming mail server from imap.plus.net to mail.plus.net I do get an error message:
Error code 3099: Connect failed
(ETIMEDOUT) --
src/network/SocketConnection.cpp:184
but no error message when it's set to imap.plus.net

Are you trying to pick up mail from your default mailbox or an additional mailbox where the incoming username should be 'accountusername+mailboxname' with password appropriate to that mailbox?

Tried that, and as described above I get:
Error code 3099: Connect failed
(ETIMEDOUT) --
src/network/SocketConnection.cpp:184
Have scoured WebOS forums and tried potential solutions including
http://forums.webosnation.com/hp-touchpad/297968-solution-email-download-errors-finally.html
but all no no avail....

I have had same problem: sending email just stopped. For a number of months all was well. For some reason, sending ceased. I finally decided to search for plusnet related mobile settings - so pleased to find insight had flagged up the issue.
I can receive my emails OK [IMAP]: sending does not function which ever setting option I try.
Yes, I have re entered settings etc.
I use the HP Touchpad and domestic WiFi: accessing the web is fine.
gesherts

Sorted!
I have re-booted the Touchpad, following which my outbound emails have tested OK.
Use the 'information' icon - there's an option to re boot..
Otherwise look up HP WebOS support and follow instructions to restart.
