Glacial IMAP

Others have been complaining (rightly) about the slowness of webmail, but client-based mail has also become glacial much of the time. A simple IMAP folder-to folder move (which is internally a copy-and-delete) can cause Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016 (tried on all versions and on different Win10 machines) to flag up ‘not responding’. An email flag-set or unset (a trivial IMAP operation) can take several seconds.

These are purely internal PN server operations: no spam clogging the process; no creaking mail gateways; no etc.

And this is on >70Mbps (Business Unlimited) broadband so I cannot point the finger at that!
