Freenetname Outgoing Email

My outgoing email is working very well but some time ago the outgoing email stopped working. When I send an email it remains in the outbox.  I immediately get a pop up box asking me to "enter user name and password for the following server"

Server : smtpmail.freenetname.co.uk

My User name

Password

I try to test the settings and get the error:

"Send test email message: Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings."

My outgoing server settings are

Ticked outgoing Server SMTP requires authentication

Radio button - Use same settings as incoming

POP 3 port is 110

unticked encypted

Outgoing server port 587

Use encrypted connections  - AUTO

Re: Freenetname Outgoing Email

Is there an option to set that last one to OFF rather than AUTO?
That's RPM to you!!

Re: Freenetname Outgoing Email

I have tried it with OFF instead of AUTO.  No change.  I have also turned off antivirus and firewall (on the PC)

I have a DrayTek Vigor 2860 router but the firewall on that has been turned off as well to test.  No change

Re: Freenetname Outgoing Email

Fix

Since inbound email is OK the problem shouldn't be incorrect username/password related. Hence it looks like the stored SMTP username/password values have been corrupted. If you can find these in the email cliemt's password store I suggest deleting that line, then try sending to reset the values.

Otherwise deleting and re-entering the account might be necessary. However since you are using POP3 for incoming mail you would need to save any emails you need to keep.

Which email client are you using?

May be a daft question - have you changed ISP?

Sorry to hear you're having problems with sending mail.

If you can PM me your Freenetname e-mail address I'll be happy to look into this.

Many thanks.  Just set up a new account in Outlook and it worked.

Re: Freenetname Outgoing Email

I'm glad to hear that! I didn't actually do anything to your account last night as I wasn't in the office.

But I'm happy to hear you've got it working again.
