Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

If you are not sending out via Plusnet's mail relay (which I am assuming you are not given the discussion surrounding getting taken off the Zen BL) then you will not be affected by the subject of this thread.

Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

I would be interested to know why the outgoing mail server is affecting incoming mail and why delivery of mail to me and what outgoing server I use affects the sender.

Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

The issue is that the Plusnet mail servers perform a DNS lookup on the *sender* domain, presumably as an anti-spam measure based on whether or not the domain actually exists. It would appear however that even when a domain does exist this check is sometimes failing and resulting in a rejection of the message. In direct answer to your question I suspect that their anti-spam measures are applied symmetrically for both outbound and incoming mail (which is a fairly common configuration).

Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

Another failure (incoming email to my brother) on

  host mx.avasin.plus.net [212.159.9.200]

which is the same one that has failed the two previous times I've reported it.

Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

I am now getting constant rejections to one particular domain - I have PM'd Matthew following his previous request to see the full email/headers. Here it is slightly redacted:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
Jo Bourne (jo.bourne@domain.com)
Your message couldn't be delivered and there was no valid enhanced status code being issued by the remote mail system to determine the exact cause, status: '552 3czUhuRN57iOj3czVhLPIu message rejected due to spam or virus. If you believe this is in error please login to your portal or contact your ISP support team.'.
The following organization rejected your message: avasout02.

Diagnostic information for administrators:
Generating server: EXCHANGE1.ad.mydomain.co.uk
jo.bourne@domain.com
avasout02
Remote Server returned '552 3czUhuRN57iOj3czVhLPIu message rejected due to spam or virus. If you believe this is in error please login to your portal or contact your ISP support team.'
Original message headers:

EXCHANGE1.ad.mydomain.co.uk (192.168.0.33) with Microsoft SMTP Server
 (version=TLS1_2, cipher=TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256) id

Received: from EXCHANGE1.ad.mydomain.co.uk ([fe80::48f7:1111:1111:d280]) by

 15.01.1531.003; Tue, 12 Mar 2019 08:42:27 +0000

This is now on any outgoing email to this domain, original or reply. With just text.  It used to be a bit patchy ie. some emails would get through which I suspected was because of content. Now even a blank email with just a sig gets bounced.

Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

The failure above doesn't appear to be related to the DNS issue(s). You would be better off starting a new thread for a more focused response.

Re: False rejection of valid sender domain

The situation has got worse - previously when this happened - about once or twice a week - I could resend the affected email and it would all be well. Not with one last night...
