Failure to send email to 1 & 1 hosted domain

Having problems this morning sending email via the plusnet servers to a domain hosted by 1 & 1

Error is

Reporting-MTA: dns; avasout01 [84.93.230.227]
Received-From-MTA: dns; android-e232c5ea99a87272.home [81.84.xx.xx]
Arrival-Date: Sun, 04 Mar 2018 10:16:56 +0000

Final-recipient: rfc822; ****@*****.org
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 554-kundenserver.de (mxeue012) Nemesis ESMTP Service not available

Can send fine to the same email address via gmail, so it would appear to be a PN issue

Re: Failure to send email to 1 & 1 hosted domain

I think what you are experiencing is probably akin to the one covered in topic https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Sent-emails-bounced-with-Nemesis-problem/m-p/1513985#M22567. That was resolved by GMX taking the action described in message #35 which reads:

@steve_arnold wrote:

Just sent another test and it went through but it was directed via avasout01.plus.net which wasn't problematic, I had a email from GMX this morning:

Dear Steve,

Thank you very much for all the information provided. This has helped us narrow down the issue.

You should now be able to send e-mails to your father as you used to.
We did have an IP range that was affected, "212.159.14.x". These IP were temporarily blacklisted due to Spam.

They are now delisted and should be functional.

We hope that you can communicate normally with your father.

Best regards,
Romina / GMX International Support

That affected the even numbered avasouts; this time it looks like the odd numbered ones 84.93.230.* have probably been blocked. Raising a problem with GMX, and persisting seems to be the quickest way to a solution.

@spraxyt

David,

Thanks, I hadn't noticed that thread, seems like it's the same problem. Retried the email later and it went through ok.

Shame there hasn't"t been any PN response on that thread.

Re: Failure to send email to 1 & 1 hosted domain

@MisterW

Do you have access to the headers in the message which went through? Wondering if it was sent via an avasoutNN relay where NN was an even number. These have 212.159.14.x IPs, a different range from the odd numbered ones. I don't think we have any means to choose odd or even. Sad

I intend to raise both these instances with Plusnet. Avoidance of relay blacklisting is high up on their agenda.

I'll see if I can get the headers...

Re: Failure to send email to 1 & 1 hosted domain

The server in the OP is listed at SORBS. That could explain it if 1&1 are using that RBL to reject messages.

The email that did send later in the day also went from avastout01 according to the headers

Re: Failure to send email to 1 & 1 hosted domain

Thanks, perhaps they sometimes use the "genuine senders will try again" policy.
