Failure to add email account to Smartphones

I am attempting to add my Plusnet Email Account to my old Samsung GT-19195 (Galaxy S4 Mini) as well as my new Huawei Honor 5X, and am experiencing exactly the same problem with each 'phone.

Each asks me to enter my Email Address, which I enter as name@username.plus.com

Then I enter the password for my personal ("name") Account

I am asked for the type of account, entering "POP3"

"Server" is already entered as pop3.username.plus.com, which I have amended to mail.plus.net

Port: 110

Security Type: None

Delete Email from server: Never

I then finger "Next" and things start to unravel - Couldn't Finish - Couldn't open connection to server

I am then thrown back to the setup page I have just left, to reflect upon my sins and guess what to do next.

HELP!!!! (pretty please?)

Chris B.

Re: Failure to add email account to Smartphones

I have set this up on my old S4 Mini and just checked again on my S5 mini.

After selecting Manual Setup and POP 3 you will need to enter your Username in the form of 'username+name' from name@username.plus.com.

Hope that helps.

Re: Failure to add email account to Smartphones

Thanks Mav, but I'm sorry, this didn't work for me. I entered (literally) 'username+name', but got the same answer as before. Did I understand you rightly?

Re: Failure to add email account to Smartphones

I suggest trying just the username and password you use to login to the Member Centre. Those are appropriate if name, as in, name@username.plus.com is your default mailbox,

Re: Failure to add email account to Smartphones

Sorry, no. This doesn't work either. (Please pardon the delay, I've had a lot of family business to sort out in the last few months.)
