Error message: configuration errors in FAM/Gamin library

Today Wed 23rd July I received error messages of the following type when synching my various IMAP accounts, although send/receive appears to work.
It is client independent: I run several different PC-based email clients and appears on all of them
We received a notification about your '<one of my PN email accounts>' account: Filesystem notification initialization error -- contact your mail administrator (check for configuration errors with the FAM/Gamin library)
Anyone else seen this pls?

Yep, I have just started getting them as well... Googled it and I have no idea what the 'how to solve' hints are talking about which is a bonus!! Any clues here in laymans terms?

Me too. Obviously a server error so nothing we can do as users.

I have been getting this message too for the last couple of days. The problem seems to be on PS's side. Maybe it's time to raise a fe3w questions seeing as no one from PN seems to be payi8ng attention?

Am I correct in assuming the problem's intermittent? I've tested my own account and that of one of the contributors to this thread and I've been unable to replicate the issue using either Outlook 2010 or the latest stable build of Thunderbird.

Yes Bob, intermittent.
If I get it then close Outlook and reopen I seldom get the message again. I suppose I have had the message around 25% of the time since yesterday but it doesn't seem to affect things otherwise.

Sounds to me like one of the mail collection servers is poorly. I'll have someone take a look (ref:82201).
Edit: Transpires that one of the mail collection servers has recently had its OS upgraded. Seems like too much of a coincidence to me so we've taken it out of the load balancer. Assuming that's the culprit, it should have 'fixed' the problem.
Do shout up if you see a recurrence over the weekend.

Seems as though you're assumption was correct Bob.
No further occurrences (to me anyway) since the suspect server was removed.
