Emails not deleting on iPad

I've got my PN email set up on my iPad but when I try to delete an e-mail (by tapping on the rubbish bin icon) the system always returns a message which says the message cannot be moved to the trash folder.  Both apple and Plusnet say that all the settings are correct and blame each other for the problem! Anyone else had this problem and have suggestions as to how to resolve?

Is the IMAP path prefix set as INBOX or left empty? I think it needs to be INBOX .

I would be more tempted to confirm that the IMAP settings are configured to place deleted items into the SERVER's trash folder and not the local deleted items folder on the iPad ... which might be full.
I do not have the path prefixed on any of my iPad configurations.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
