Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

Both I and my friend have freenetname accounts.

Over the last couple of weeks he has tried to send emails to several people (including me) and although they appear in his Sent folder the receipient never receives the email.

This is specifically applying to emails from his freenetname account to my freenetname account.

He is on dial-up and therefore cannot raise this as an official problem because his connection is not good enough.

I am therefore hoping that someone here can help.

He is using Windows XP and Microsoft Outlook (he lives in an ark!!!).

Re: Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

Hi @fairmaiden,

I'm sorry to hear that your friend has been experiencing problems with sending emails from his Freenetname account. Please can you confirm whether he has tried to send any emails via our webmail service rather than Outlook and, if so, whether the email sent successfully?

He can log into his webmail and send me an email and I receive it.

Re: Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

Hi @fairmaiden,

Thank you for confirming that your friend is able to send emails via webmail. As this is the case, it sounds like the problem lies with the Microsoft Outlook settings.

Please can you ask your friend to remove the account from Outlook and then add the account back by going through the steps here. This article includes the incoming and outgoing mail servers for Madasafish email accounts. As this is a Freenetname account these will need to be changed to mail.freenetname.co.uk for the incoming server and smtpmail.freenetname.co.uk for the outgoing server.

Re: Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

My friend has currently 24hrs on BT-Fon.

Using this method he can receive messages from me but when he sends me a message

he gets an Undeliverable 550 message. This applies to send to me (freenetname) and

a friend on gmail.

The email account has now been deleted and reinput and he is still getting the Undeliverable 550 message.

Re: Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

@bobpullen There is another post created a couple of hours ago similar to this which says:

"CloudMark reported that the DNS pointer record for this IP is dynamic. Cloudmark will not remediate dynamic IP addresses"

Can you tell me if this applies to dialup?Huh

The problem account has already been deleted and recreated and still not sending (or receiving now).

Thanks.

"Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

       Subject: praying

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

       <my name> (<my email address>) on 03/01/2019 21:12
             550 <my email address> recipient rejected - relay
denied"

I have replaced my name and email address.

Is it possible for you to PM me the username of the account so we can advise further?

Re: Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

Well, my friend has had 24hrs of BT-Fon and is now back on dial up - the status is as follows:

If he has the Authentication box ticked you get error 0x800ccc18

If he has the Authentication box unticked you get repeatedly asked for Username / Password.

Sorry to hear that.

Did he have the same issue whilst connected to the BT-Fon?

Re: Emails in Sent folder but not received (Freenetname)

The message he received via BT-Fon is further back up the thread.

The message he gets via dial up has been solid for the past week.

(His use of BT-Fon was a one-off to get some urgent work done, he cannot

afford those rates normally!).
