Emails being repeated, sort-of delivery failure

Today and yesterday two incoming emails are being repeated, I have now had 17 copies of the one from yesterday. It looks as if the sending sever is getting a delivery failure response from the PlusNet server, but in fact PlusNet is receiving it. The sequence is that after the original email, a copy comes in after 15 minutes, then another 30 mins, then 1 hour, two hours and then regularly every 4 hours, so the sort of intervals at which a server will retry when it gets a failure. Any idea what's going on?

Do you know the sender of this email? If so, if you can please ask them for the rejection message they get and the email headers, so we can raise this for further investigation?

@LaurenB it may have sorted itself out - one arrived at 02:03 today so I'd have expected repeats at 06:03 and 10:03 but no more have arrived. So it may remain a puzzle - I'll come back if it restarts.
