Email setup on iPhone 4 on 3 Mobile

Hi - I've read a lot on this, and am still confused.
I want to be able to send & receive email irrespective of my connection:
Home Wifi - PLUSNET
Work Wifi - NON PLUSNET
Public Wifi - ANY
3G
Edge
Current settings are:
INCOMING
mail.plus.net
kosifou+danny
mail password
SSL off
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 110
OUTGOING
relay.plus.net
kosifou+danny
mail password
SSL off
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 110
this isn't working on all connections - especially 3G/Edge - and I have no idea what I need to do so that I don't have to change settings depending on my connection type…

help!!

Re: Email setup on iPhone 4 on 3 Mobile

thanks for that - although the settings don't work for me.  I just got an error when it tried to verify - couldn't connect to server etc…
Are you sure it should be set to port 143?
Anyhow - does anyone have an iphone, and are able to use mail on all connection types as listed above? If so, please share your settings.
thanks.

Re: Email setup on iPhone 4 on 3 Mobile

I tried setting up the email on my iphone and it worked first time, and this was connected via Wifi to a non PN internet connection.
I'm using an iPhone 3g, but surely that couldn't make any difference could it?
I used the settings from the library article which worked.
my outgoing port is 25 with SSL off and incoming is 143 with SSL off also.

Re: Email setup on iPhone 4 on 3 Mobile

When on a 3 connection, you need to use their SMTP server. They block port 25 to any other destination.
Try smtp-mbb.three.co.uk, port 25. Do not switch on Security or Authentication.
I don't have an iPhone, but the above should be generic for any 3 connection.
