Email service unacceptably slow

Email server service has become unreliably slow. For several weeks emails have been arriving late. Typically, regular daily emails for news organs (FT, Citywire) are not arriving until after 13:00 hours, though sent at 06.00 or 07.00 earlier the same day. In fact, I'm not receiving any emails at all now in the morning before midday. Latest extreme delay example is a personal email posted at 14:15 on 21 Nov. arriving at 19:15 on 23 Nov.
The delay is experienced at webmail.plus.net not just at my Thunderbird email client. A majority of my emails originate from UK for access/download here in Budapest. The Budapest location has not produced any problem over the past 5 years. The problem seems to be with Plus Net (noting other customer complaints of slow downloads).

This is a know issue and plusnet engineers are working on it. More info here

Hi all,
I just wanted to drop in to let you know that we are aware that webmail is still a problem.
The issues with slow speeds and timeouts are still being investigated and we are working towards solutions for this.

And it does not suggest getting another Email client
