Email server playing up?

Intermittently getting this error message this morning, about 50% of the time...  is there a problem?

Socket Error: 10060, Port: 110, Protocol: POP.A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Same problem I think.

Started last night, unable to download emails on desktop, laptop and tablet but oddly phone was still downloading mails up to 10 minutes ago now it too is dumb.

Re: Email server playing up?

Quite odd, working one minute, then failing the next! (Only receiving mail not sending)

Re: Email server playing up?

Hi, new to this forum. Had "An error occurred with the POP3 mail server. Mail server mail.plus.net responded:" when trying to download emails. Been like it since 22nd at about mid day. Nothing changed on my systems. Tried to call helpline (30 minute wait), system suggested to fill in a report form online and of course there isn't one!

Can't even be sure this message will load as I can't verify the email to make my logon live......

Email will go out but not in and I can pick up emails that arrive on my old BT ISP address (A year since cancelling and it's still working!)

Yes, email download is all over the place. One second it works then it doesn't.

Re: Email server playing up?

I use Pegasus mail to to pick up POP3 emails. I have started getting the message "15: Peer connect failure (the host has refused the connection)" most times I try to collect messages. Some get through though.

Broadband (browser) access seems fine, running at 18Mb/s which is about usual.

From the replies I'm guessing other people are having problems accessing plusnet email servers.

Re: Email server playing up?

A problem did prevent Plusnet email collection using POP3 until around 6pm. However it should be OK now.

Re: Email server playing up?

As far as I can tell there were at least two threads about this problem, starting on Tuesday. My first action when I realised something was wrong was to look at PlusNet's email service status. This indicated that the last problem had been in May.

Why wasn't some indication shown in the email service status?

Re: Email server playing up?

Yes, I looked at the status as well and saw nothing about an email problem.  Therefore I assumed the problem was at my end and checked all my account settings and wasted a lot of time doing that. Sometimes it worked and other times not.

"Do us Proud" Plusnet. Live up to your slogan please.

You are right, notification of this problem via service status should have been done. The SUs have raised poor communication of this matter into the business.
