Re: Email server misbehaving again?

Probably this..
08/01/2013 @ 14:21
We're currently experiencing routing problems across our network which is causing issues for a large number of our customers at the moment.
These issues may result in problems when browsing to websites or accessing other Internet related services.
Due to this we've taken the decision to put holding pages in place instead of our website.
Our engineers are looking into this as a matter of priority and further updates will be posted when available.

Been very "lumpy" most of the afternoon.

Re: Email server misbehaving again?

It may cause you some disruption, if you can then I'd suggest trying http://webmail.plus.net
We'll keep updating the service status with further information when we have it.

Re: Email server misbehaving again?

I've been have heck and all troubles today not being able to send from an iPhone 3G or iPad Wi-Fi....  collecting ok.
Thought I had settings wrong so been through all the set-ups. SMTP setting for when not connected to plusNet, using port 587 etc. SSL  OFF....    So looked here for known problems....
Getting username or password incorrect error.
It's ok on home WiFi .....
Ran out of things to try......  deleted and recreated accounts.... powered off and on.....    Anything else I can try ?
Thanks

Re: Email server misbehaving again?

I suggest checking that authentication works on your account by using telnet from a command prompt. The procedure to do this is described in Community Support Library article Testing SMTP Authentication using Telnet.

Re: Email server misbehaving again?

I can't even log into webmail this morning. https://webmail.plus.net/ just hangs on the "Loading..." message follwing having been logged out automatically overnight - "Waiting for webmail.plus.net". All other websites appear to be working normally suggesting it's not my connection.
EDIT - nothing showing at http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&?helpheader=servicestatus suggesting there's a problem. Can't get "Basic Webmail" to work either.
FURTHER EDIT = Outlook Express won't download either
