Email server intermittently playing up.

Showing this about 75% of the time...
Socket Error: 10060, Port: 110, Protocol: POP.A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Edit: Can't get in at all now.

Not aware of any problems and our monitoring platform's not grumbling about anything. Just tried one of your mailboxes and can connect to it without encountering any problems

Hmmm...  very strange. This site has suddenly become extremely slow as well, but I can still browse ok to other sites. Still can't access PN email server using an email client, but the same client can get into other email servers.
Puzzling.

Just a thought, check what DNS servers you are using.

I use OpenDNS.
Seems to have cleared itself now anyway. Ta for the responses.

I use the same, had the same problem checking my mail, changed over to Plusnet DNS servers and the problem went away.

Ah, I'm told we've just had a bit of a blip that will have affected stuff we've got hosted in Sheffield i.e. email, our website, community etc.
Should be sorted now though.
