E-mails not sending when abroad

I am currently holidaying in Canada.  My e-mails sent right up to last e-mail before catching flight.  Since arriving in Canada and hooking up to Wi-Fi locally my outgoing e-mails have all stuck in the outbox and will not send: I am receiving my usual stream of incoming e-mails OK.  Does anybody know what the problem is over (not) sending?

What settings have you got for SMTP server? You need to authenticate when not connected to PN or maybe port blocking by local connection.

Let us know what email software are you using and we can point you to the settings to check.
Changing the port from 25 to 587 might do the trick (587 is the best port to use anyway).
Have you entered a user name and password for the outgoing mail. When you are on a Plusnet connection it is not needed, but you do need it when connected elsewhere.

They're using MS Outlook Jelv, apparently but I can't help them with that as I've never even seen it let alone use it. Hopefully they will be back to pick up any pointers from people with experience of Outlook and it's (curious, I would imagine with it being M$) settings.

@ Jelv. I know that it was aimed at the OP and not me. I guess you didn't read properly after waking up. 
All I was doing was replying for the OP as they had sent me a PM earlier about what they use.

I'd had a PM as well (I've copied you my reply). I didn't twig that you knew from a PM you'd received.
It would be good to know if the info. we've provided has helped him sort it out!
