E-mail timeouts (2011-01-27)

We're not seeing many reports of this at all now, however we do still have the problem open internally and being investigated as something is obviously incorrect. We'll come back with another update here in the morning.

Just tried my other laptop and it worked fine.  Still had the same problem on this computer, but once I entered the user name and password on my various accounts it worked OK and is continuing to do so.

I wonder if your mail client had stopped trying to connect with the same credentials after a number of failures? Seems odd that it worked with just reentering the same details.

I'm still having the same problem this morning (as at 9.23am).  I'll experiment further...
OK, success.  Like Coastergrotto, I entered my username and password and everything worked.  A second email sweep a minute later went through automatically.

Only just rolled out of bed and I'm pleased to say that mine is still working fine.  Problem appears to be solved.

Thanks for confirming that all is well with you e-mail again here.
Some mail clients will stop trying to connect after a certain number of failures as Chris mentioned, I think some firewall packages may also get wise to this too.
