Is this my settings at fault....         The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '<snip>', please contact your email service provider.

Re: E-mail rejected

Read this with interest Jim, but the problem that I have just had today is that when I try to Fwd an email it gets attached to my containing email rather than adding my bit to the original email itself. This means that it is impossible to edit the original email for deleting source detail, any other superfluous text etc., in the interests of privacy like BCC to other recipients. Could this all be due to the alterations going on?

Re: E-mail rejected

Assuming you are talking about webmail it is quite easy
Just click on the Down Arrow next to forward and select Forward inline
Why the default changed I have no idea

Re: E-mail rejected

Thanks OJ.  Looked at this just now. Your post partly solves the problem in that the headings and text do become editable which is good. But I note that my original email that I was trying to Fwd had images in its body but now are still listed as attachments to the Fwd whereas they used to remain in the body undisturbed.  This may be useable but I will see if there are other consequences.

Re: E-mail rejected

From my recollection, when you forward messages inline some parts do appear to be transmitted as attachments but they appear inline when received. I think this might be due to needing to handle MIME encoding of that part of the message.
You could check that by "forwarding" the message to yourself.

Thanks spraxyt!  I will when I have 5 minutes (rare)!! It just seems strange that these oddities have suddenly appeared when there are some fiddling going on, unless my eyes have been deceiving me of late!
