Diagnosing email server connectivity issues - the guide - working "again"

There's a moderator note on the Diagnosing email server connectivity issues - the guide pinned post that says "Unfortunately due to some forum changes this tool no longer correctly outputs the correct commands."

The post is also available from the Internet Archive at Diagnosing email server connectivity issues - the guide (archive.org) and it still works there (i.e. it outputs the correct commands) - it's the same "Revised: 13 May 2025 13:54" revision too.

Maybe @Townman or a moderator might like to change the note on the pinned post to include that working link?

(Aside: Rather than starting a new thread, I wanted to post this to the discussion thread, but there's no reply buttons there for me - is that because the post is somehow "locked"? for everyone? for mortal users? - I'm not that familiar with the functionality of this forum...)

Re: Diagnosing email server connectivity issues - the guide - working "again"

Oh WoW - thank you.

Providing a link to the internet archive where a working historic version lives is a really great idea!  It is a while since I checked through all of this and there have been changes to the infrastructure.  Any such link should come with a health warning to use with caution.

Note the dates are the same as my code did not change, but the forum environment was changed by the vendor, with the consequence that the enabling bit of black magic was quashed.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
